I have had an exciting few months. Since I moved here in early November I have accepted not one, but two museum jobs. I am currently a Docent and Program Facilitator for the Art & History Museums- Maitland (A & H) and an Educator at the Orlando Science Center. I honestly never anticipated on being employed so quickly, let alone in museums. I know I am very lucky. As it stands, both jobs are part time, but I am so grateful that I am able to stay in this field that I love! People outside the museum field may not understand, but part time or full time I’m happy to get paid for doing what I love. This may be a good subject “10 things my friends and family will never understand about working at a museum”. Number one, we will work for free. But I digress…
Because of this, I have not been able to keep up with this blog like I imagined. I thought I would have had a lot more free time—luckily, I do not. In any event, I have explored more of Central Florida than I had ever done before. In two months I’ve trekked to the Central Florida Zoo, Orlando Art Museum, Orlando Science Center, Orange County History Museum, Sea World, Universal Studios, Cocoa Beach, numerous Farmers Markets and Food Truck nights, oh and of course the A & H! So I’m going to try to update daily—short spurts, perhaps. Either way, tomorrow is 2012, a great time for a fresh start and a clean slate. I can’t wait to share Central Florida with you!
Happy New Year!
